Subject:    Empanelment of Private Hospitals under CS (MA) Rule, 1944-Reg

      The undersigned is directed to state that the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a contributory health scheme of civilian Central Government Employees and Pensioners. It provides OPD treatment facilities to the Central Government employees / pensioners and certain other categories of beneficiaries as notified by the Central Government from time to time, through its Wellness Centres. With a view to providing hospitalization/ in-door treatment facilities to CGHS beneficiaries, CGHS has been empanelling private hospitals, exclusive Eye hospitals / Centers, exclusive Dental Clinics, Cancer Hospitais/units, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centers periodically. Apart from this, hospitalization facilities are also available in Centrai/State Government hospitals. CGHS presentiy covers 71 cities including Delhi/NCR.

2.   In non- CGHS covered areas, OPD treatment facilities to the serving Central Government Employees and their dependent family members is provided through the Authorized Medical Attendants (AMAs). For providing Hospitalization/indoor treatment facilities, private hospitals are empanelled under CS (MA) Rules, 1944.

3.    It has been observed that the proposals for empanelment of private hospitals under CS (MA) Rules, 1944 are being received for areas situated both in CGHS covered cities as well as in non- CGHS covered ones. As per the terms and conditions of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between CGHS and the private hospital empanelled thereunder, a CS (MA) beneficiary can avail hospitalization/ in-door treatment facilities in such CGHS recognized hospital (s). Therefore, keeping in view the said provision of MOA, the competent Authority has decided that henceforth, oniy those private hospitals which are located in non-CGHS covered cities, shall be considered for empanelment under CS (MA) Rules, 1944. The Hospitals which have already been approved by the Technical Committee on or before 20.03.2020 i.e. the date of this decision of the competent authority will, however, be considered for empanelment under CS (MA) Rules, 1944.

4.    This issues with the approval of Special Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.
