Cancer Treatment at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai — regarding.

     Tata Memorial Centre (TMH), Mumbai is a Premier Institution for Cancer treatment and many CGHS beneficiaries avail treatment facilities at the Centre. In this regard the matter has been reviewed by the Ministry and a Memorandum of Agreement has been signed between TMC, Mumbai (and its subsidiary Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Khargahar, Navi Mumbai) and CGHS with a view to streamline the procedures for undergoing treatment at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.

Para 2 — Procedure for CGHS Beneficiaries

2.  In this regard the undersigned is directed to convey the procedure to be followed by CGHS beneficiaries for availing treatment at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai as per the details given under:

Cl.Procedure
i)All CGHS beneficiaries shall obtain a referral letter from a CGHS Wellness Centre in Mumbai / Office of AD, CGHS in Mumbai for availing Cancer treatment from Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.
ii)CGHS Wellness Centre shall refer the CGHS beneficiary with a proper authorization letter indicating entitlement for out/in-patient treatment (General / Semi-private / Private ward) corresponding to C, B, A of Tata rates respectively.
iii)CGHS beneficiaries shall carry CGHS Card and submit authorization letter in original along with two photocopies.
iv)The authorization letter shall be valid for one month and is inclusive for all in-house treatment (Consultation, Investigation, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Surgery etc.) during the validity period.
v)The CGHS beneficiaries and their dependents will be charged as per TMH rates in force, amended from time to time.
vi)Memos relating to drugs will be given to the patient only as per policy of Tata Memorial Centre.
vii)All medicines prescribed by TMH doctors will be supplied by the Centre. If not available, patients may procure from CGHS as per rules — Medical Superintendent, TMH will certify non-availability.
viii)No priority / preferential treatment will be accorded unless clinically indicated.
ix)TMH shall provide treatment on credit basis to pensioner CGHS beneficiaries and CGHS Staff as per authorization letter. Bills sent to Addl. Director, CGHS, Mumbai for payment as per MoU terms.

⚠ Credit facility will NOT cover Bone Marrow Transplant cases — separate permission required. Credit not extended for higher category than entitled.
x)Serving CGHS Staff shall take permission letter from Addl. Director, CGHS of city of residence and report to Addl. Director, CGHS, Mumbai for further referral to TMH.
xi)Other serving employees report to CGHS, Mumbai with approval of their Ministry/Department.
xii)Any consultation without the presence of the patient shall be charged at normal rates — no credit facility.
xiii)Serving CGHS beneficiaries shall make payment and claim reimbursement from concerned Ministry/Department.
Para 3 — Validity
3.  These orders are valid for a period of two years from date of issue (i.e., upto 12.09.2024). (Subsequently extended to 22.04.2028 by OM dated 20.02.2026.)
